Greece’s Future: The Smart City Revolution: Ellinikon City

Ellinikon City is set to transform Greece’s waste, water, and energy management by integrating modern technology. The project, which has faced delays in the past, is now back on track to refurbish an unused airport near Athens and turn it into Europe’s largest smart city.

The smart city will be built on 2,500 hectares of land and will feature apartments, green spaces, and sustainable energy sources. Development activities at the construction site are currently underway, with the Marina Tower being constructed to become Greece’s first skyscraper. The city is only a 20-minute drive from Athens and will provide easy access for residents and visitors alike.

Ellinikon aims to combine luxury, sustainability, and technology to create a unique experience for those who live there. It will boast a Mandarin Oriental hotel and resort, Europe’s largest coastal park, residential areas with sea views, shopping malls, and sports complexes. The project expects to generate $10.7 billion in tax revenue annually once completed in 2037 and attract one million visitors every year. It is expected to increase Greece’s national GDP by 2.5% and create approximately 80,000 new jobs. Overall, Ellinikon City represents a significant investment in Greece’s future that combines cutting-edge technology with luxury living.
