On May 8, four workers from Cho Lon Electricity Company sustained severe burns while repairing an underground cable line in District 8. The incident resulted in a short circuit, fire, and explosion. The workers were taken to Cho Ray Hospital where doctors attempted to treat them for their injuries.

Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, the Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, provided details about the most severely injured patient, a 28-year-old male with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. The patient received treatment for pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans of the head, chest, and abdomen before being transferred to the Department of Plastic Surgery for further treatment. His prognosis remains difficult due to the extent of his injuries.
