New Jersey Fire Chief Faces Criminal Charges for Damaging Rare Sports Car

In Piscataway, New Jersey, a fire chief has been criminally charged for allegedly damaging a man’s rare sports car by dumping debris on it. The incident was captured on surveillance video and occurred at the firehouse where the chief works. The car owner, Mark Bahna, claims that Joshua Scolnick was upset about rainwater from his sump pump seeping onto the firehouse property next door.

Bahna stated that his car was parked on his property between his building and the volunteer firehouse. His attorney, Mark Speed, mentioned that they are exploring all legal options and have reached out in writing to the parties involved, awaiting a response. Bahna emphasized that his damaged car is priceless and may be one of only two 1995 Nismo 270R’s in the U.S. He explained that Nissan only produced 30 of these cars in 1995, and his car is number five, representing his lifelong passion for collecting rare vehicles.

Despite attempts to contact Scolnick at the firehouse and reaching out to Piscataway Fire District No. 3 where the firehouse is located, there were no responses. Police have charged Scolnick with 3rd-degree criminal mischief and released him on a summons complaint following the incident.
