Google has recently addressed a security flaw in the Android TV operating system that allowed unauthorized access to users’ Gmail accounts. The issue was brought to light by content creator Cameron Gray, who demonstrated in a video how it could compromise user information by using a web browser and APK for Google Chrome on Android TV. In response to this vulnerability, Google conducted a review of TV streaming technology providers’ privacy practices and acknowledged the possibility of criminals overriding default settings to access restricted Google applications on TVs through logged-in accounts. Most devices running the latest software versions no longer allow this behavior, and Google is working on a solution for the rest of the devices.
