Twelve Palestinians Drown in Tragic Accident While Seeking Aid Amid Ongoing Conflict: The Need for Immediate Action and a Comprehensive Approach to Relief Efforts

On Monday afternoon, twelve Palestinians tragically drowned in the sea off a beach in the northern part of Gaza Strip while attempting to reach aid supplies that had fallen into the water from a plane. According to Hamas, this incident occurred after aid supplies were dropped from planes off the coast of Gaza Strip.

The northern Gaza Strip has been experiencing severe suffering among its civilian population due to the ongoing Gaza war, which has been raging for over five months. Aid deliveries by land are limited as Israel has closed the border crossings in the north of Gaza Strip. The fighting and chaotic conditions within the coastal area make it dangerous for trucks to travel, further exacerbating the situation.

In an effort to provide relief, several countries including USA, Jordan, and Germany have been dropping relief supplies from military aircraft for over a month. While this initiative is commendable, aid organizations emphasize that an airlift alone cannot fully replace transportation of relief goods by land. The war was sparked by a brutal massacre carried out by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist Palestinian organizations on October 7th near the border between Israel and Gaza Strip.
