The Disappearance of Detroit Lions Cornerback Cam Sutton: Whereabouts Unknown and Arrest Allegations Raise Concerns

As the Detroit Lions wait anxiously for updates on former cornerback Cam Sutton’s whereabouts, there is concern for his well-being. Sutton was released by the team just 24 hours after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Florida on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony with a potential five-year prison sentence.

The NFL owners meeting is taking place this week, and questions are expected to be directed at the Lions and Sutton’s former team, the Steelers. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin stated that he had reached out to Sutton regarding off-field issues but declined to provide further details.

Drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Sutton has had a successful seven-year career with nine interceptions in 101 games. In his first season with the Lions in 2023, he appeared in 17 games, recording 65 tackles, four tackles for loss, six pass defenses, and one interception. The expectation was for Sutton to bounce back from a challenging previous season with the addition of new defensive backs to the roster.

However, as days go by without any news or updates on Sutton’s whereabouts or arrest status, speculation and concerns continue to rise about his well-being. It remains unclear what led to Sutton’s release from the team or why he has not turned himself in or made contact since news broke of his arrest warrant.
