Soundscapes of the Endangered: A Musical Tribute to Earth’s Natural Wonders

Dolby Laboratories has released the first album that pays tribute to seven of the world’s most endangered sonic wonders, with a musical score by award-winning composer Nainita Desai. The album, titled “Seven Sonic Wonders,” was created in collaboration with wildlife sounds technician Chris Watson and is now available on Apple Music.

The seven natural sounds chosen for the album were based on the same criteria as the Seven Natural Wonders, including epic natural beauty, diversity and distribution, ecological importance, historical heritage, geographical location, and embodiment of mystery. Among the sounds included are the Vatnajokull glacier in Iceland, the dawn chorus of Lake Suvasvesi in Finland, the smiling hippopotamus in Kenya, the frog beats in Gamboa in Panama, the murmur of starlings in the United Kingdom,
