Six Outstanding K-6th Grade Teachers Recognized for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education in Maryland

In 2024, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) will recognize six outstanding teachers with the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6th grade. The top-performing county public schools include Washington County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools and Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Dr. Carey M. Wright, Interim State Superintendent of Schools, expressed his honor and congratulations to the finalists. “I am honored to recognize Maryland’s six finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching,” he said. “These finalists represent excellence in teaching and embody the ideals of innovation, dedication, and excellence. Their passion for STEAM education is truly inspiring.”

The PAEMST award is given to teachers who possess a deep understanding of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) subjects they teach and have the ability to inspire their students to succeed in these areas. The recognition serves as an example of excellence for other teachers to follow and a source of inspiration for students.
