Saginaw’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream Faces Major Frustration with Road Closure: A Look into the Situation

Saginaw’s Hand Dipped Ice Cream on Sheridan Avenue is facing major frustration due to an unexpected closure of the intersection of Sheridan Avenue and Hess Avenue. Construction started on Monday, March 25 and is not expected to be completed until August 9. The reconstruction project has caused concerns for local businesses that rely on the traffic at the intersection.

Fred Temple, who works at Hand Dipped Ice Cream, was shocked to see the hard hats and orange barrels blocking the intersection. He expressed his frustration with the closure, stating that the extended timeline for the project is excessive. Temple believes there could have been a better way to conduct the project without disrupting businesses in the area.

Despite the construction, Temple is still encouraging customers to visit the ice cream shop and enjoy their products. He mentioned that they offer a variety of treats, including tacos, tostadas, and 30 flavors of ice cream. Temple also mentioned plans for Fourth of July fireworks and hopes that customers will still visit the shop despite the road closure.

In addition to Sheridan and Hess Avenues, Gratiot Avenue (M-46) is also closed between Malzahn Street and Wheeler Street in Saginaw until Friday afternoon, March 29 due to utility work. The combination of road closures is causing inconvenience for commuters and businesses in the area.
