Lockheed Martin and Mercury Systems Collaborate to Enhance Switzerland’s Military Capabilities Amid Security Threats

Switzerland’s military is modernizing its capabilities with the help of Lockheed Martin and Mercury Systems. The collaboration stems from a partnership between Lockheed and the Swiss government that resulted from the country’s purchase of F-35 II stealth fighter jets. The Federal Office for Defence Procurement will transfer key security technologies, such as software-defined radio capabilities and cryptology, to support the production of advanced defense technologies at Mercury Systems’ production site in Geneva, Switzerland.

Lockheed Martin is excited to work with Mercury International to bring cutting-edge defense technologies to Switzerland. This partnership will expand the Mercury Processing Platform and introduce new capabilities to the European market. Switzerland is investing heavily in modernizing its military, including equipping itself with Lockheed’s Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missile systems and focusing on surveillance and kamikaze drone capabilities.

Despite budget cuts in other government departments, Switzerland has proposed an increased defense budget to address security threats resulting from the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. The country is taking significant steps to enhance its military capabilities and strengthen its defense posture in response to evolving security challenges.
