Kaua‘i District Health Office Hosts National Public Health Week Open House: Connecting, Protecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health.

Kaua‘i District Health Office Hosts National Public Health Week Open House

In celebration of National Public Health Week, the Kaua‘i District Health Office is hosting a free open house event on April 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their district office located at 3040 Umi St. in Līhuʻe. This event provides the public with an opportunity to learn about various programs and actions that community members can take to address public health challenges and explore career opportunities in the field of public health.

The Kaua‘i District Health Officer, Dr. Janet Berreman, welcomes everyone to attend the event and expresses gratitude for the continued support of the community and partners in building a thriving and healthier Kaua‘i. By working together, communities across the U.S., including those in Hawai’i, can improve their well-being and protect themselves from critical public health issues such as infectious diseases, mental health concerns, and food safety risks.

National Public Health Week highlights these issues by encouraging communities to recognize the importance of public health and connect with resources available to help them achieve better outcomes for themselves and their families. The theme for this year’s week is Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health.

DOH staff will be present at the open house event, including vector control experts, administrative services personnel, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals, food safety inspectors, disabilities case managers, and microbiologists who are dedicated to providing essential services to improve the lives of all residents of Kaua‘i.

Community members have an opportunity to ask questions about various programs offered by DOH that aim at improving public health on Kaua‘i such as immunizations programs or disease prevention measures aimed at reducing infectious diseases risk.

Join us on April 5th from 9 am -1 pm at our district office located at 3040 Umi St., Lihu’e for a unique experience where you can interact directly with our team!
