GSA Introduces Newest Class of Presidential Innovation Fellows with Focus on Technology Upgrades

Innovative Collaborations: GSA Launches First Presidential Innovation Fellowship Cohort of 2021

The General Services Administration (GSA) has announced the members of the first of two Presidential Innovation Fellows cohorts to be launched this year. A part of Technology Transformation Services, PIF recruits technology and innovation leaders from the private sector and embeds them at various federal agencies. They serve as strategic advisers supporting government leaders as they address national priorities.

This year’s first cohort, the 12th PIF class overall, consists of 21 fellows focused on technology modernization goals. These innovators will use their skills to improve service delivery for the American people in their times of need. GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan expressed excitement about how these innovators will collaborate with agency leaders to enhance public service.

In addition to this, a second cohort launching this summer will focus on artificial intelligence in support of the Executive Order on the Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence. This shows that GSA is committed to using new technologies to improve government services and protect citizens’ privacy.

PIF was launched in 2012, recruiting over 250 fellows who have made significant contributions to public service. These include enhancing data sharing at the Department of Veterans Affairs and supporting technology modernization at the Department of Justice. This program has proven to be an effective way for GSA to attract top talent from industry and bring it into government service, benefiting both taxpayers and citizens alike.
