Equipping Panola County’s Youth for Success: The Spring Youth Sports Closet Event

The Spring Youth Sports Closet event, hosted by the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, aims to provide equipment and uniforms to youth in need. This initiative is a response to the high costs associated with playing youth sports, which can make it difficult for some families to cover all the expenses.

Several groups in Panola County have come together to support this initiative and ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to participate in the sports they love. Keri Perot Vance, executive director of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of providing support to local youth so they can develop their talent and remain active in their community.

The Carthage Service League has been a key contributor to the Spring Youth Sports Closet event. They donated items to meet the equipment needs of children in the community and hope to inspire other counties to do the same. Donations are accepted year-round, with the closet being opened during major sports seasons. The event concludes on May 24th, but anyone interested in donating or picking up youth baseball or softball equipment can contact the Panola County Chamber of Commerce in Carthage.

The goal of this initiative is simple: ensuring that all children have access to the equipment they need to participate in sports and stay active in their community. By supporting this program, we can help foster a culture of inclusivity and promote healthy lifestyles among young people in Panola County.
